People pleasing (or the good ole herd mentality)
One of my past favorite (and awkwardly weird) things to do was to seek out what I thought to be the ‘coolest local girl groups’ and find my way into being a part them. You know… for fun. The quitincential girl groups in which everyone likes the same things, wears the same outfits, listens to the same music, and of course… can’t forget the iconic wallowing in self-deprecation about their bodies “not being perfect” or their dating lives equally being in a pathetic shamble… (a true rite of passage.)
Now… don’t get me wrong. I do love a good girl’s girl and nothing beats the truest form of female friendships! However, If there’s anything I’ve learned from mastering being a conformist and studying the fine art repertoire of ‘group think’ 😉 — it’s that if you don’t spend A LOT of alone time genuine getting to know yourself as well - you’ll never know your true worth or value.
Why does being authentically me even matter?
Authenticity isn’t just about being honest; it’s about living in alignment with your values and embracing the parts of you that make you unique— even when it’s uncomfortable.
The coolest thing about it is…This simple skill makes you a leader in today’s society and there’s a big wide open gap for truly authentic people to fulfill and be the thought leaders of tomorrow.
Okay, maybe this sound completely nebulous to you… I get it you are not trying to change the world or anything. You just want to be free to express yourself and that’s just fine! The world doesn’t need more perfection, it needs more realness.
Inauthenticity comes at a cost.
This topic hits a little close to home for me but to put things simply: being inauthentic, suppressing your personality quirks, or ‘matching energy’ are all the quickest ways to betray your spiritual essence or aura (as the kids say 😉.)

You don’t get any cool points for to not stay true to yourself and you don’t win any prizes either- unless it’s fools gold… When you rob yourself of the uniqueness that your father God made you with in his perfect divinity, you also take the opportunity away for others to follow in your very footsteps.
Each decision we make in life causes a tremendous ripple effect— whether negative or positive. Being a positive example of God’s light and love is a gift within itself. You get to be in the world and not of the world. Or as the newest Jaguar launch would say - you are a “copy of nothing.”
Protecting your Authenticity
This looks like setting boundaries and a lot a saying no.
Journaling 3 pages per day also allows me to personally release all of my thoughts, feelings, desires, and beliefs onto the page. This way I can genuinely reflect on my choices going forward and and carve a path forward that feels genuinely authentic to me.
This is not a selfish act. This is transformational self-care and a self fulfilling prophecy that makes you the author of your own story.
Takeaways
Now, as we move forward into the new year with our shining and true spirit enabled by the savior, our lord, jesus christ who died for our sins so that we can live eternally. I ask that we question our thought consciousness the next time we make a decision…

Ask yourself: “Am I making a choice that feels true to me or am I following the crowd or doing when is expected of me.” This is a great question to ponder because oftentimes the expectations others have for you are not very high.
Ask yourself: “What would my life look like if I were to completely embrace being my most authentic self?”
I’m on the same path with you this New Year — as we commit to being our best versions. Let’s embrace our imperfections and share something real with someone this week.
Push past the resistance to blend in and be average. Embrace the path of freeing yourself from limiting beliefs and make 2025 your year to shine. You deserve it!
Sincerely,
Angel
